Introduction
This article explains the difference between the Important and Confidential tags on CMap Mail and what happens when they are applied.
Important Emails
Marking an email as important on CMap Mail is a useful way to indicate to other project members that the email contains key information.
Once an email as been marked as important, CMap Mail will tag the email with a red exclamation mark. This exclamation mark will appear next to the email in CMap Mail Search & Discovery, and is visible to all project members.
You can also choose to filter filed emails by the 'Important' tag in CMap Mail Search & Discovery, allowing you and others to locate and view the important emails as quickly and easily.
Confidential Emails
Marking an email as confidential works slightly differently.
In order to mark an email as confidential, you will need confidential filing permissions assigned to you. These can be granted by your CMap Mail Admins.
You'll know if you have confidential permissions assigned as the 'Confidential' option will be selectable when you come to file the email. If you don't have confidential permissions assigned, the 'Confidential' option will be greyed out.
Once an email has been marked as confidential, it will appear in the 'Show Confidential Emails' area of CMap Mail Search & Discovery. Only users that have confidential permissions can view this area, ensuring access to restricted information can be controlled.
Marking an Email as both Confidential and Important
If you choose to mark an email as both confidential and important, it will appear in the 'Show Confidential Emails' area of CMap Mail Search & Discovery and will be tagged with the red exclamation mark. As the email as been marked as confidential, it will not be visible to all users, only to those with confidential filing permissions.
