[403] Error when creating CMap Mail projects

When creating projects in CMap Mail Admin, you may encounter the [403] Error. A [403] Error relates to a forbidden action. There are a number of reasons why this error appears, so we recommend discussing the scenarios below with the CMap Mail Support team or your CMap consultant before you take action.

Scenario 1:

You may be getting this error because a SharePoint site already exists with the same project code as the project you're trying to create on CMap Mail Admin.

When a CMap Mail project is created, it also creates a corresponding SharePoint site. This site will use the project code as part of its URL.

Therefore, if you already have a SharePoint site that uses the same project code, you won't be able to create the CMap Mail project.

There's two possible resolutions:

  1. Permanently delete (delete it and remove it from the Recycling bin) the non-Mail site to free up the URL.
  2. Use a different project number for the Mail project.

Only a SharePoint Admin can permanently delete SharePoint sites.
